Who operates this service
Parkclose is an independently operated community project based in Arlington, Virginia. It is free to use and is not a government parking authority. Email prasidhapps@gmail.com about privacy, corrections or removal requests. Do not send identity documents or medical records.
Address search and location
After three characters and a short typing pause, address/place suggestions send the typed prefix through our host to Photon. Choosing Search sends the submitted text through our host to Nominatim. These providers use OpenStreetMap data. Do not enter confidential information.
The chosen destination coordinate is used to find parking. Search responses may be kept in a shared server cache for up to 14 days; we do not maintain an account-based log of your trips. Hosting and service providers may process network/request metadata under their own policies.
The supplemental off-street lookup requests a shared public facility inventory, not your address or location, from its source. It does not install a parking provider's tracking scripts or create an account with that provider.
Your browser is asked for location permission only when you choose Use my location in the parking-report form. We extract the selected coordinates, not a continuous location history. Submit only the public parking location you intend to publish, not your home or another person's location.
Public parking reports
Accepted reports publish immediately: the parking name/location, coordinates, optional count, access information, directions and submission time are public. Do not include names, contact details, plate numbers, medical information or resident-assigned/private parking. Reports are not independently verified before appearing.
Public reports can be copied or cached by other people and devices. We cannot promise to erase every third-party or offline copy after removing something from the live service. Contact us with the parking name or report reference if information is wrong or inappropriate.
Email feedback
Feedback links open your email app; this website does not send, save or confirm delivery of a private request. You can also copy the contact address into your preferred email service. Your email address, message and any other information you send are handled by your email provider and the operator's Gmail inbox under their own retention and privacy policies, not the public parking database.
Emails are not published as parking reports. Ask the operator about correction or deletion of an email copy; we cannot promise deletion of provider backups or copies outside our control. Do not send passwords, medical information or other sensitive details.
Basic traffic analytics and browser choices
Parkclose counts page loads using a first-party daily aggregate counter on our host. The browser sends an empty request, without a page address, referrer, search, location, report content, visitor ID or cookie. No individual analytics event, IP address or visitor profile is saved by this counter. Daily counts are retained for 30 days and shown only to the operator. Hosting providers may still process ordinary network metadata.
Counting is skipped in local/development previews, on URLs containing query strings or unrecognized paths/fragments, and when the browser reports Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. We count once per visible document load, not every search or button click. Offline use, blocked requests and these exclusions make figures incomplete; reloads and bots may increase them. Page views are not verified people or unique visitors, and collection cannot reconstruct past traffic.
The operator can also view Cloudflare's aggregate API request/error/performance metrics. Those include bots and background/admin API calls and are not visitor counts. The optional third-party Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon remains disabled unless separately configured.
The app uses browser caches for its offline shell and previously fetched public parking data. Abuse protection keeps a salted IP-address hash separately from submissions for an approximately one-hour rate limit, not a raw IP address alongside a report. When a report is removed, a minimal record of its submission ID prevents that same submission from being retried; it does not retain the removed report's name, location or directions. Infrastructure providers may process IP addresses and security metadata.
Advertising and changes
No advertising network or personalized-advertising tracker is currently installed. Advertising may be introduced later. Before ad technology is enabled, this notice and any necessary consent/opt-out choices must be updated for the actual providers and data uses. A free service is not a claim of nonprofit legal status.
Material changes will be reflected in this notice and its updated date. Your legal rights under applicable law are not limited by this notice.
